RSS Feeds

What is this?

Have you ever noticed an icon like the one above on a blog, website, or library database? This is the most common icon used to identify the availability of an RSS feed.

What is an RSS feed?

RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, is an information publishing format used for frequently published content, such as news headlines, blog posts, or article uploads to a database. These updates are published in a feed to which you can subscribe.

What is an RSS reader?

A reader is used to subscribe to RSS feeds and read the published content. Through the use of an RSS reader, published content comes to you instead of you having to go to the content.
